SCHOLARSHIPS BY CORPORATE SECTORS
I.HSBC Scholarships Programme
The HSBC Scholarships Programme is part of the Group's worldwide community development policy that focuses on two main causes - education and environment. It was started in India in 2002. It aims to nurture leaders around the world and help build global knowledge with the accompanying expectation that the lifelong careers of the scholarship recipients will be marked by significant contributions to the community in which they live and work. HSBC believes in encouraging excellence and leadership through education. That is why every year the Group provides scholarships to exceptional individuals.
II.DSP Merrill Lynch :
Office Assistants' Employee Children Scholarship Program
This Scholarship Program has been instituted to encourage children of our permanent office assistants to further their education. The program provides for merit based cash scholarships
III.Fair and Lovely : Scholarships
Project Saraswati - Graduate
Project Saraswati - Graduate will award scholarships to women who have the aptitude, drive and ambition to carve a place of pride for themselves in society, but do not have the financial strength to realize their dreams.
Scholarship details : Project Saraswati will identify deserving women under-graduates, and award them each a scholarship of upto Rs 1,00,000 per annum, per person. This scholarship will be given after a review of the candidate's academic credentials, followed by a personal interview. The scholarship covers all graduate courses within India, and will be granted as per terms and conditions laid down in the charter of the Fair & Lovely Foundation.
How to Apply: Advertisements carrying detailed information along with the scholarship application form is released in leading newspapers across India sometime mid-year. The Project Saraswati application form is also made available in downloadable format from this website.
Candidates have to fill all the required details in the application form and provide attested copies of all documents listed. Candidates also need to provide a statement of purpose in English, which should be an essay of not more than 500 words.
Eligibility: Scholarships are awarded to women only. For Saraswati Graduate, candidates must :
Have secured at-least 60% marks in their 10 th and 12 th examination
Have working knowledge of English language
Scholarships are awarded solely at the discretion of our panel of Judges
Saraswati Graduate is for a Graduate Degree in India only.
Saraswati Graduate has been introduced for the first time this year by the Fair and Lovely Foundation.
IV.GE Foundation India Scholarships
The GE Foundation has established Scholarship Programs in more than 25 Engineering and Business Schools in India, encouraging Indian Students to pursue higher education in Technology and Management. GE Foundation has awarded scholarships to 72 students across 22 institutes amounting to $400,000 -- encouraging Indian Students to pursue higher education in Technology and Management.
IV.German Remedies : Medical Scholarship Trust - Recognising Merit
As a part of its social obligations, GRL believes in promoting education among different strata of society, the objective primarily being to provide assistance to medical education. The German Remedies Limited scholarship which commenced in 1992, consists of one time prize money of Rs. 20,000 and is awarded to the student who secures highest marks at the final year of the M.B.B.S. (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) examination and pursues his/her post-graduation studies at the Goa Medical College in the Department of Medicine. From 1992-93 to 1997-98, six students have been recipients of this award.
VI.Goodricke Group
To nurture the buds of tomorrow, the Goodricke Group has established creches and schools at all its gardens, Scholarship schemes for students with academic merit, and adult education programmes for those wishing to take night studies have also been organised by the company.
VII.Grasim :
To motivate students, GRASIM has instituted scholarships based on merit, along with factoring the economic conditions of the families of students at Raipur, Nagda, Kharach and Bhiwani. To encourage girl students, special scholarships are offered.
VII.Kirloskar
Educational Scholarships
There are various schemes either in the form of grant in aid or loan scholarships to the deserving but needy students to pursue the education in India or abroad. This is with a view to fulfilling a social obligation in a country in which there is a vast human talent and potential but scarce resources.
VIII.Mahindra
KC Mahindra Education Trust
The trust's objective is the promotion of education at various levels, and it is involved in and contributes to various education initiatives
Every year the trust offers between 30 and 40 interest-free loan scholarships to post-graduate students going abroad for higher studies
The trust has instituted the Mahindra Search for Talent scholarships in 34 schools in India to encourage and reward students who have achieved academic excellence. These scholarships are awarded every year to over 300 students from all over India. These are students with good scholastic records who come from lower income groups and are keen on pursuing job-oriented diploma courses
The trust has also instituted the KC Mahindra Chair at the Institute of Science, Mumbai, since 1970 to encourage research in the field of nuclear chemistry
Besides, the trust has established the Mahindra Search for Talent scholarship at the Banasthali Vidyapeeth, a deemed university in the state of Rajasthan, where it has also recently started a management school called Wisdom - Women's Institute for Studies In Development-Oriented Management
The K. C. Mahindra Education Trust was established in 1953 by the late Mr. K. C. Mahindra for promoting education among Indians at all levels. The subjects included are Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities and Medicine and other emerging areas related to Science and Technology including the study of Military, Naval and Aviation Sciences. The trust since then has encouraged and awarded many deserving students through its various scholarship schemes for education in India and abroad.
Every year the Trust offers up to 30-40 interest-free loan scholarships to post-graduate students going abroad for higher studies. The Mahindra Search for Talent Scholarships is a scheme established in 34 schools in India to enthuse and reward students who have achieved excellence in their academic pursuits.
The Mahindra All India Talent Scholarships are awarded every year from all over India to over 300 students from lower income group families with good scholastic record pursuing job-oriented diploma courses in various polytechnics.
The K.C. Mahindra Chair at the Institute of Science, Mumbai since 1970 has been encouraging research in the field of Nuclear Chemistry.
IX.Monasanto : Monasanto Vidyarthi
Monsanto India has established Monsanto Vidyarthi, a community outreach programme, which provides educational scholarships to primary, secondary and university students in most of the regions where we grow our seed products. Monsanto Vidyarthi is an endeavour by Monsanto's family of employees to give something back to the communities in which we live and work. Of greater value than the money and resources expended, is the personal commitment of time and energy invested in the programme by each of the team members. The employees at Monsanto take responsibility for visiting schools, meeting with teachers and students, assessing needs, then following up by managing student enrolments and distributing equipment and supplies provided by the program.
To date, over 2000 students have benefited from the Monsanto Vidyarthi programme at the secondary level through various scholarship schemes. As part of the programme, students from select villages in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have been equipped with study material in the form of 56,000 schoolbooks and 12,000 schoolbags. Monsanto Vidyarthi is a success because it responds to the natural desire of Monsanto's family of employees to give something back to the communities in which we live and work.
X. Reliance
Rewards and scholarships
The Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation (DAF) has instituted several rewards and scholar schemes over the years.
The Dhirubhai Ambani SSC Merit Reward Scheme and Dhirubhai Ambani Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme encourage and assist district level meritorious students to pursue professionally oriented higher education. Both the schemes, instituted in June 1996, are currently applicable in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and the Union Territory of Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
These schemes are also suitably designed to encourage education of the girl-child and to mainstream the physically challenged.
This year 575 meritorious students received Rewards and Scholarships under the schemes. Over the past 9 years, DAF has covered 4,234 students under these two schemes. Of these 314 are physically challenged.
The Reliance Kargil Scholarship Scheme was launched with the generous contribution of Reliance employees. It continued to support 383 children from 103 families of martyrs of the Kargil war as well as disabled soldiers.
The Dhirubhai Ambani Scholars Scheme was announced in 2003 to commemorate the silver jubilee of the company's listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Under the scheme, 900 meritorious children of Reliance shareholders were selected for the scholarships.
More than 50 percent have joined Engineering Colleges while 13 percent are pursuing degree courses in Medicine. The rest are pursuing degree or diploma courses in various disciplines.
XI.Samsung : Scholarships
In conjunction with the Graduate School of International Studies, Korea University, Samsung has instituted two full paid annual scholarships for the 2 Years Masters Programme at the University. The selected Candidates are supported by Samsung by way of Tuition Fees, Living expenses as well as accommodation in Korea. Upon successful completion of the Course , the candidates will get an opportunity to work at Samsung for a two year period, either in the Marketing or in the Exports Division
